Tambacounda Region

Spanning 42,364 square kilometers as Senegal's largest administrative division, the Tambacounda region serves as a sparsely populated economic hub with a 2023 population of nearly one million residents. Formerly part of the Mali Empire and once home to the Kédougou department, this vast territory is anchored by its capital city and divided into four distinct departments.
