Diourbel Region

Formerly the Kingdom of Baol, this historic region in Senegal is home to the sacred Cekeen Tumulus and the holy city of Touba, serving as the spiritual center for the Murid Sufi order. With a population of over 2 million, it is primarily inhabited by the Serer people and remains a vital cultural hub where ancient traditions intersect with modern Islamic practice.
