Located on the Tiburon Peninsula in southern Haiti, the Sud-Est department (known locally as Sidès) is a coastal region with an area of 2,034.10 km² and a population of over 632,000. Its capital, Jacmel, serves as the administrative center for this area, which features a peacock-in-tower symbol and ranks eighth in the nation's Human Development Index.
