Established on July 2, 2001, the Hauts-Bassins region serves as a vital administrative hub in Burkina Faso with its capital in Bobo-Dioulasso, encompassing the provinces of Houet, Kénédougou, and Tuy. By 2019, this area supported a population of over 2.2 million people, achieving a literacy rate of 33.4% and ranking second nationally in the Human Development Index.
