Established on July 2, 2001, the Sud-Ouest region of Burkina Faso spans 16,153 square kilometers and serves as the administrative home for the capital city of Gaoua. Comprising four provinces—Bougouriba, Ioba, Noumbiel, and Poni—the region held a population of 874,030 according to the 2019 census.
