Golestan Province

Located in northeastern Iran along the Caspian Sea, Golestan Province shares a northern border with Turkmenistan and serves as a vital transit point at the Incheh Borun crossing. Established in 1997 after being carved out of Mazandaran Province, its capital is Gorgan, a city formerly known as Esterabad.
