Adams County
Founded in 1901 and named for Governor Alva Adams, this Colorado county serves as a key part of the Denver metropolitan area with Brighton as its seat and Thornton as its largest city. Originally stretching from the Kansas border, its boundaries were significantly reshaped in the early 20th century and again in 1989 to accommodate Denver International Airport and the creation of Broomfield.
