Amambay

Located in Paraguay's Eastern Region, Amambay is a department established in 1945 with its capital at the border city of Pedro Juan Caballero. The region derives its name from the Guarani word for the eagle fern, a plant characteristic of the local Caaguazú Cordillera forests.
