Established in 2017 by merging the districts of Jbeil and Keserwan, this northern Lebanese governorate is bounded by the Mediterranean Sea to the west and the North Governorate to the north, with Jounieh serving as its capital. The region is predominantly inhabited by Maronite Christians and features the Jabal Moussa Biosphere Reserve, while its administrative implementation officially began in 2020 under Governor Pauline Deeb.
