Cienfuegos

Founded by French settlers in 1819, Cienfuegos serves as the capital of Cuba's Cienfuegos Province and is renowned for its well-preserved colonial architecture. The region, which covers 4,186.60 square kilometers, had a population of 405,481 as of the 2010 census and ranks ninth among Cuban provinces in the Human Development Index.
