Located at the crossroads of North and Central Africa, Chad is a landlocked nation bordered by Libya, Sudan, the Central African Republic, Cameroon, Nigeria, and Niger, covering an area of approximately 1.3 million square kilometers. The country's landscape is defined by three distinct ecological zones: the Sahara desert in the north, the arid Sahel in the center, and the more fertile Sudanian Savanna in the south, which contains Lake Chad. Economically, Chad remains one of the least developed nations with a low HDI ranking, relying heavily on agriculture and coffee production while facing significant challenges related to poverty and political instability. Despite possessing some oil reserves, the country's GDP per capita remains low, reflecting its status as a developing economy with limited industrial diversification.
