Northwest

The Northwest Region, a special-status area in western Cameroon with its capital at Bamenda, was formerly part of the British Southern Cameroons before joining the federation in 1961. Currently, various separatist factions regard the region as a distinct polity, leading to ongoing political tensions and conflict.
