Punakha District

Located in western Bhutan, Punakha District serves as the historic seat of the country's first kings and is home to the iconic Punakha Dzong. With a population of approximately 28,740 as of 2017, it is one of the nation's 20 districts, bordered by Thimphu, Gasa, and Wangdue Phodrang.
