Pemagatshel District
Established in 1970 by Dudjom Rinpoche, Pemagatshel District derives its name from the Dzongkha phrase for "Blissful Land of the Lotus," a title inspired by the area's resemblance to a blooming flower when viewed from the old dzong. This district, formerly known as Khoi Dung, serves as a significant administrative region in Bhutan with a population of approximately 23,632 as of 2017.
