Jervis Bay Territory

Established in 1915 by transferring jurisdiction from New South Wales to the Commonwealth, this Australian territory was created to provide a seaport for the landlocked Australian Capital Territory. With a population of approximately 307 residents, it remains the smallest external territory of Australia by area.
