Armavir Province

Strategically positioned in western Armenia's Ararat plain, Armavir Province serves as the nation's spiritual heart by hosting the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and the historic capital of Vagharshapat. This region, which shares a 72-kilometer border with Turkey and houses the Zvartnots International Airport, was the site of the pivotal 1918 Battle of Sardarabad that secured the foundation of the First Republic of Armenia.
